Goal setting is an essential factor towards living your life yielding strong rewards in all aspects of your life.

Ok if you have been reading my blog for any length of time you must know what it is about. I started out not knowing anything about Internet Marketing. All I had was a course my Dad paid for and his help along the way.  He has been in IM for over eight years and has been a great help, but not in an over bearing way. He insists that I make mistakes in order to learn. That way I might make a better teacher.

Smart goal setting allows you to have a choice where and how far you want to go in life. It is by knowing exactly where to put your focus on and give those areas improvement. It also gives you the guide of which part of your life is merely a distraction to your long range plans. It concentrates your accumulated knowledge and helps you organize your available resources. When I set out with this blog I had no idea where I was headed so what you are reading here is a learning curve of a year or so that I have been at this.

So let’s talk of the Benefits of smart goal setting. I have set a couple or two goals, one is to eventually make this blog work to the point where someone comes here know nothing as I did and then learns to make some money.

So I want you to say after me:

By smart goal setting you will be able to:

– achieve, sometimes even more than your initial goal

– improve the quality of your performance

– increase your self-motivation to achieve

– increase your satisfaction in the work you have done

– improve your self-confidence and self-esteem

– plan to eliminate attitudes that causes distractions (e.g. the ones that hold you back causing unhappiness)

How to start smart goal setting?

The first step in setting your goals is to put into careful consideration what you want to achieve in your entire lifetime. Your lifetime goals will give all of your actions and decisions in the right direction. It shapes all other aspects of your every decision making.

Since this is about your lifetime goals, you may well be looking at a broad horizon. Here are some important areas in your life that needs consideration:

– career and finances

– education

– family

– art and sports

– physical and attitude

– entertainment and pleasure (travel, etc.)

– social and public service

After carefully choosing what you want to achieve in every category, make a priority list that will number these categories from 1 to 7. You may even add more aspects into the list if needed. Remember that this is your smart goal setting list, it should fit your needs – not your parents, peers, family or people around you. It is for you – not anyone else’s.

Check to see if all is in place. A careful review is important – this will ensure that all is in place the way you want them to be. Review your plans every now and then to make sure this is what you really want and that you are doing everything right. If modifications and reworking are necessary, to apply it to Internet Marketing then by all means do so.

Now I know I though all this stuff was B.S when I started. I was like “hey Dad show me the money,” and then he blew me out of the water by saying, “there aint none till you do the work” He uses better English then that he’s published a couple of books, but I just wrote it like that so you remember it.

So let’s get back to it. From here on, base your every decision on your goals. You can make a daily list of things you are going to do that will help you reach your goals. Simple things like reading a book and gathering of information on what you want to do in the future will help you get started and maintain this throughout the entire process.

The right attitude for smart goal setting

One important thing in smart goal setting is self-discipline. This will help you carry through your dreams and vision in life despite the problems and hassles that may arise. If self-discipline is present, goal setting is also relatively easy because your positive attitude towards your effective guidelines will help you rather than hold you back.

Researches and surveys have shown that people who set their goals in life effectively suffer less from stress and have fewer tendencies to have anxiety attacks. They also learn to concentrate and performance better. Finally, they show more self-confidence and are more at peace with themselves making them happier and satisfied people.

Starting an online business can be a great way to rid ourselves of the paycheck to paycheck lifestyle. You can build up your own business, manage it as you see fit and make all the money you will ever need. However starting an internet marketing business is not that simple a task.

On your way to building up your business you will hit roadblocks and other problems, finding ways to overcome these obstacles is important if you want to succeed. Always keep on the look out for new methods and new ideas that can help you earn your income on the Internet.

3. Fresh content. On your website you need to keep a steady flow of new, unique, and fresh content to make it grow. Websites get assigned a page on google searches depending on a lot of factors, one of which being the content and quality of the website. If you just let your website sit it will fall in the ranks and you will not get any traffic.

4. Offer a free service. In order to entice your visitors you need to offer them a sample. They will not buy anything unless they know it is worth buying, so offering them a free sample of your product is important. It should not be anything too major but some good examples are an e-book on your product’s niche, or other helpful information.

You want to give them enough to wet their appetite and leave them wanting the full product.

 This is all just the very tip of the iceberg when dealing with an internet marketing business so you will still have to go out and search for more information, however these tips will give you an idea of what you need to know and what to look for to help you on your road to success.

Online Marketing Strategy-You have to have one.

 There is something I’ve learned as I’ve researched IM …There are no silver bullets when it comes to Internet Marketing.

There was a time when having a website would virtually guarantee that you would be noticed, and that you could capitalize on having an online presence. To be blunt, those days are long gone. In today’s business world you must have a full online marketing strategy if you want to achieve any gains from your website, and yes, every business needs a website. If you haven’t got one your not in business.

 For some reason people like to spread the myth that traditional marketing and online marketing are the exact same thing. Granted many of the principles are the same, but the application of these principles varies so widely that they are not synonymous. There is no question that the medium used for advertising will dictate how you can market using that medium effectively. For example, you may be able to capture people’s email addresses by placing an ad in the newspaper, but it would be much more effective to get their email address from them while they are online. The point is that an online marketing strategy requires a different way of thinking than traditional marketing, though you may notice similarities.

 So the big question! Who are you going to sell your stuff to online?

 Seems like such a simple question, but every other part of your online marketing strategyis based on it. It’s easy to think that putting up a website will somehow draw people to your offer and that sales will magically start coming in. However, due to the global nature of the Internet, people often make the mistake of thinking that their market is “everybody”. That is far too vague to be even remotely useful.

 Knowing your market then gives you the ability to figure out the best way to market to them, and how best to craft your marketing message in a way that they respond to. Different groups of people congregate in different places online. Meeting your market where they already are is a more efficient use of your marketing resources, but only if your message causes them to take your desired action. The only way to have the right message is to know your market. See how it all works together?

 If you have all of this stuff in place, and you know it’s working well, then you can move to the next level of your online marketing strategy. This really comes down to getting the word out in as many places as you can, using as many relevant methods as you can (remember to keep your market in mind). You should also test and track all of your advertising and then make changes as necessary.

 Once your income starts flowing in, be sure to reinvest some of it into your marketing efforts. However, having an online marketing strategy is not enough. You have to put it into action before you start to see all of the positive results and you need to know what to do.
